Welcome to the site. We're knocking on a hundred degrees here in Texas, so I'm envious of of your Canadian lake country riding. But, check back with me about January and my envy may not be so great.

Just about anywhere in Canada is beautiful. My dad lives up on Lake Erie about two hours from Buffalo. I went up on my bike last year and did that section of Canada which was great. You will love your Silverwing...just seems to do everything you need it to.

It's 86F right now with a humidex of 104F. I'm up here in so-called "cool" Canada. We get hot and humid as well as cold and dry. In the winter I have seen -49F without any windchill. You won't find that in Texas.
Needless to say most cars, let alone a Swing, won't even even start at those cold temps.

Hi
I am a new Silverwing rider. At this point have not made any modifications to my bike, but have a GIVI tank coming and am looking for a rider backrest so I can go on longer trips without back fatigue. My husband and I decided to get bikes so we could do this together. He is an experienced rider, I am fairly new, but enjoying this new hobby. Appreciate being able to see comments and recommendations from those with more experience.

Hello, and welcome,

I only joined a few days ago but have learned more here than in the last two years since I bought my Silverwing. These guys know their stuff and I can't wait to pick their brains some more.

Yes we do. This forum is the place to become very knowledgable about a Swing. Many of us have the factory service manual and know how to use it as well.
Keep asking and we will keep replying.

The lowest temperature measured in Texas was -23 degrees, recorded on
February 8, 1933 at Seminole.

Welcome to the SWing world and SWing forum.

The Utopia ( http://www.utpr.com/silverwingnew.html ) backrest is
a) adjustable (up/down/foward/backward)
b) pivot flat for passenger loading
c) able to support all of the riders weight (while stretching out)

If you you do not need or require these features then there are other cheaper alternatives

a) Leroy Beal ( http://www.leroybeal.net/motorcycles/silverwing/articles/backrest/backrest.html ) butt-rest to back-rest
b) RV-Toys ( http://www.rvtoys.net/motormate_002.htm )

just to name a few

ricemom,

Welcome to the site and hope you enjoy it. Like DennisB said...post some pics in the Album section when you get a chance. You can set up your own folder and post pics of your SWing and rides you go on.
