I'm serious. If there's a way to make one persons posts invisible, I'd love to see it.

| I'm not really worried about how I appear to others.
It's pretty simple. If you treat people with respect, they generally will be respectful back. If you act like a rude jerk, you deserve to be treated accordingly.
One of the general things I dislike about the south is their "live and let live" attitude towards other people. A lot of southern people tend to take the position "that's just the way they are" or "you can't change how people act." And of course it's true, you can't really change people. But you don't have to tolerate poor behavior. People will generally try to get away with whatever you let them get away with. If you make it known that rude behavior will not be tolerated, in time they will stop, or be totally ignored.
It's not that tolerating poor behavior is endorsing it, and I'm not accusing anyone of agreeing with anyone's comments just because they don't come out against it every time.
But you have to have some standard of decent behavior. And I'm not talking about institutionalized rules of conduct. I'm talking about being personally discriminating of what you will tolerate. I'm talking about your personal standards.
Of course now I've run off at the mouth. But I think the point is valid. People really only act rudely when you allow them to do so. When you say things like "everyone's entitled to their opinion" you're just enabling them. |

| Duggle: Don't get me wrong, I agree with the opinion regarding how rude that particular person comes across, but it is possible that he doesn't know how he comes across. So initially, I would try to tell him very clearly that I think he was rude and then, perhaps suggest a more tactful way of expressing his opinion. But if it turned out that he was intentionally being a rude jerk, then I might rip him (or any jerk) a new a$$ hole. The bottom line is, it really isn't worth getting all juiced up over. People like that are simply not worth the effort. |

| Hey Doogle... if it is any consolation, I think 99 44/100 of the members of this forum do recognize that there a member here that is in a class all by himself as far as behavior is concerned. I also believe that you are taking a lot of it personal because he spends so much oxygen being critical of the great state of Tennessee. I think our friend the scootist is trying to be helpful by suggesting that you are going to be better off by just doing what the title of this thread is. Most of us here are doing that already. You are a good guy and have a valid point, the jerk IS a jerk. Whether it is intentional or not, he certainly comes across as very bitter. We all need a hug sometimes, consider this a big en. We are neighbors you know. If you are close to Whitwell, TN, I may try to look you up in a month or two. Can you recommend a close restroom we can use as a meeting place? |

| Here's my question for Opalsboy.
I spent four weeks in Arkansas in the last three months, and how are you guys getting so much better weather than we've been having in Tennessee. You're at the same latitude, and it's consistently warmer and less snowy in Little Rock than it is in Nashville.
I don't get it.
I shouldn't complain though, the weather's been good enough to ride here the last two weekends in a row. Sunday was a bit chilly, but the week before it felt like it was in the 70s. |

| I think the general consensus was that we should ignore everyone... |

| Duggle, it should be very clear to you (It is to me)... Arkansas spends close to $1.7 Billion on keeping our restrooms clean as a fresh driven snow.
Not sure I know what a driven snow is, but that must have some connection.
We HAVE been blessed with some of the best weather in the country. It has rained, snowed and stormed all around us this winter.
Today I am sitting here in my family room watching the snow blow sideways from the north to the south at about 30 mph. My wife just phoned me to tell me she had been on the side of the road waiting for a trooper. She had tried to stop because two cars were stopped in front of her in the highway. She slid by swiping one of them. Trooper told them to call their insurance companies. He would file the report as no one at fault. The State Police are too busy in the area to send someone out for a minor incident like hers.
So, it looks like we may get some of that weather everyone has been getting. Snow expected to be 6 - 8 inches here. Not much compared to most of the rest of the country, but enough to cause havoc in the Goolsby neighborhood. The birds are sitting around my feeders holding on for dear life. Gotta add some food for them. BBBRRRRR.... |

| Yeah, I checked the radar right after I posted that to see if the giant storm that was supposed to be headed this way was real or not, and wow, it had the entire state of Arkansas covered when I looked.
I remember thinking "good time to post about weather in Little Rock, dummy." |
