Help....Oil Behind Air Filter Empty
PostSubject: Help....Oil Behind Air Filter   Help....Oil Behind Air Filter I_icon_minitimeSun May 15, 2011 5:09 pm

Hello Everyone,

I was going to do some maintenance on my swing today. I decided to check the air filter and once I got everything apart i noticed oil behind the filter. Anyone have any idea what this might be? I have stock ait filter and it looks like engine oil.

Is this a new or used scooter? What year is the scooter? Do you know the scooters history?

Its a 2002 used scooter I have owned since 2008 with no issues other then cosmetic. Currently has 9000 miles 3500 are mine.

The reason I was going to do some maintenance is last week while out riding my swing stalled at a traffic light. She restarted but at every stop she didn't want to idle and would die. The only way i got home was to continue to give her throttle, keeping the rpm's up. I was going to clean air filter out while I wait for a new one. I am also going to change plugs and oil. Just curious to know if anyone knows why there might be engine oil behind the air filter.

Thanks

There is a drain for the liquid that gets separated out from the PCV system.
Rebelers lovingly call it the "Puke Tube" I'm not sure what clever nickname SWingers have for it but I'll bet yours needs to be emptied.
Its a clear tube with a plastic cap in it. Drain the smelly goo in to an oil catch pan.

As for your scooters stalling. If changing the plugs and air fillter does not help with the stalling I would check the fuel pressure. Very good chance that the fuel pressure regulator is giving your scooter the problem.
