| Definitely not a SMIDSY moment. Riding home the other evening. Lovely weather, clear blue sky, dry roads, the thought of an enjoyable ride ahead. Entered a roundabout, a few cars had filtered from the next junction ahead of me, except an Audi A2. I was looking at him and he was looking at me! I'm thinking, 'he's not slowing down.' He's obviously thinking, ' I can beat that scooter.' He did miss that scooter - Me!!! But by how much I wouldn't like to guess. It wasn't much. I mean less than six inches. I was so committed to the roundabout, in that I was already on it, bike leaned over, speed just right for the amount of lean. If I had touched the brakes I would have lost it. But my anger never came out until a half mile or so later. Red haze time. Pulled over, sat on the bike for a few minutes, composed myself and carried on. So beware silver Audi A2 drivers, I'm on the look out now. I will recognize your car. (What looks like a boot print in drivers door - not me I must add.) Bad lad has obviously done similar before. |

| Glad it worked out. You did good chilling yourself out. You can't challenge cars when on the scoot (I know you didn't here) and there is no retribution. Bike always loses to car. |

It is a wise person that heeds the axiom: "The greater the mass, the greater the right of way." It sucks as a legal argument but saves lives when comparing potential damage/pain. Nice job Doug. |

| Had that happen to me the other day. Youngblood in a Trans Am pushed in front of me with no room to spare and no right to do so. He was getting off the exit ramp and so what if I was already on it? He didn't think a Master Sergeant would be on that bike I'm sure as I pulled up behind him at the front gate to the post. Walked up showed him my ID and demanded his. Said he could either make it easy and I'd only be talking to his First Sergeant. If not, well I had his plate number and the MPs were just up the road. Rare that you get to give them such a wake up call. Consider my fortune yours, Doug, and share in the wicked grin I gave him and the deer-in-the-headlights look he gave me. |

| That wasn't a deer-in-the-headlights look; it was a poop-in-the-pants feeling. |

| Had a satisfying moment myself a few years back, but not on a bike. Long story short some youngster in a XR2 (UK hot hatch) was coming the other way and wanted to force me to pull over. I actually didn't have room to and so he thinks he'll show me a lesson and prove his driving skills by putting his foot down and coming within inches of my car. Suddenly there's a loud clunk and I watched my drivers wing mirror folding in (as it's designed to) as he clipped it. I was very annoyed... but it turned to sheer satisfaction as I looked in my rear mirror to see his brake lights coming on and his wing mirror bouncing down the road.
Will alway treasure that moment:-) |
