I've installed accessory lights on the sides of my Givi topbox - one set are used for turn signals, and one set are used for brake lights. Both sets have clear lenses. These lights use the standard 1156 incandescant bulbs with the small 3/4" globes. To make them demand a little more attention from other drivers I am thinking about replacing the incandescant bulbs with brighter LED bulbs. I've found some 1156 replacements on the superbrightleds.com website with various numbers of LEDs, beam spreads, and colors. I would use Red for the brake lights, and Amber for the turn signals, and would use a wide beam spread in both cases. I'm wondering if anybody else has tried this, and what results they got. Did it make a significant difference in the brightness? Was there any problem with too much heat melting the lense? Anything you can tell me will be helpful. Thanks!
