| Could someone please tell me if the battery lays on its side or stands up? I would greatly appreciate any picture that someone could post for me so that I could see the proper position for the battery. Thanks in advance for your help. |

| Hi angelrider, The battery stands up with the screw terminals at the top and facing the inside of the trunk. Hope this helps. DennisB :D |

| On my 04, it is the Yusa YTZ12S. I shopped around and found a lot of battery's that were just a little to tall. I ended up shelling out the coin for a Yusa. I think it was around $135.00 |

| Does anyone know of a better battery replacement for the Yuasa YTZ12S? I find Yuasa batteries not to last and their warranty is terrible! The manufacturer does not provide the warranty, but leaves it up to the distributor to decide what they want to do. |

Would the larger battery YTZ14S help?? I checked if Odyssey had a battery that would fit I found one smaller PC310 ... but no experience with it. |

| The battery I just replaced was the O.E.M. and my bike is a 04. I would say that 5 years and 12,000 miles without a battery tender is a pretty good life. |

| pvretis,
Are you having some sort of trouble with the YUASA or is your experience with that brand just a bad one?
I am not an obsessive type with my batteries (bikes or cars). We don't have battery tenders, I haven't seen any reason (personally) to bother with such. Our 2005 Silverwings still have the OEM battery (YUASA) and we do not use a battery tender, my bike has been sitting now for a month and when I started it yesterday on my 4 year old battery it cranked with no discernable lack of battery strength. We ride them quite a bit and quite honestly the battery is my last concern. I know, I know we could be stranded out somewhere in Bumfizzle, MS... I could have a valve drop and take out a piston...
I think that if properly cared for (as per the owners manual) the stock battery will give quite a long life. If obsessively cared for - the same deal. Batteries get quite a bit of attention, but unless you are really stressing it with deep cycle discharges and poor recharging. Exposing it to severe environmental extremes and otherwise abusing the battery (dang underseat light) - you should get an easy 5-6 years out of any battery just by ignoring it. Check the cables and battery posts and clamps regularly (every couple months?).
What specific problems have you had with the YUASA? |

| Yeah I know there is a similar sounding location in Egypt - Bumf#*& , but that just didn't sound applicable as I don't ride my SilverWing there. |

| I have been to Toadsuck AR and know the story. We have a great friend in Conway, AR. So Toadsuck is a real "town" as opposed to the fictional Bumfizzle, MS or Bumf#*&, Egypt. |

| I remember driving to Lake Placid, New York. I needed gas. The next exit was called "Paradox" If the exit was a paradox, would I be able to get back on? (Cue Twighlight Zone music.) I waited to the next exit. Engine quit as I rolled into the gas station. |

| I've purchased batteries off ebay from a distributor in Florida. They were inexpensive and reliable. Here's one for sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HONDA-RC51-VTR-RTV-1000XX-VFR800-YTZ12S-BATTERY-B-06_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a1Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem1c095a2ba9QQitemZ120415988649QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories |
