| can i get an extra key cut anywhere or is it a piece of technically advanced equipment!!!! I only got one key when i got the bike, and my fear is locking it under the seat by mistake (gettin gloves on etc) at some God forsaken spot.It would be nice to have an extra for a peace of mind. Maybe i'll put em both on the same keychain then i'll have two keys under the seat !!!! |

| Hi hotwings,
Do you have an ACE HARDWARE where you live? If so, be sure to ride your scooter to test the key(s) after they make them for you. |

| I had two keys made at a small locksmith, so I would think you should not have a problem finding someone to make you extra keys. That said if you want OEM Honda keys you can order blanks from your local dealer or on line and take them to anyone with a key cutting machine (locksmith or hardware store) and have them cut them for you. Myself it didn't mater if they were Honda or generic blanks as I'm cheap so I went for the generic blanks. I think Honda wants $8.00 or $10.00 just for the blanks. I keep one on the chain of my wallet, that if I lock one under the seat or lose it I have one with me at all times. I had the extra ones made after I had to have come get me and take me home to get the other OEM key I keep at home after I did lock one under the seat. Dennis beat me to the post as I was typing but I'm not going to delete this after all this typing. |

| I was in a near by town 70 kl was to pick up glass with my wife . It was hot and I put my jacket in my top box with my keys . I called a locksmith to open the top box, to a tune of $60. My spare was at home . I ordered a blank key from the dealer and had it cut at my hardware store. I now have a spare hidden on my Swing . |

| I've tried my local ACE and other hardware storres, but they didn't carry the blanks, so I went to a local key shop and they had them. I had also checked with the dealer, but the key shop they use was farther away. You might let your fingers do some walking or use it as an excuse to visit all the key shops and hardware stores in your area. FYI: Golden Keys in Dallas, Texas carries Honda blanks. Also, if your bike has the HISS system, I don't think generic keys will work. |

| tinman, I have a spare key for my top box I keep at home. I can't close my top box without taking the key out. But now I think about it, I put my helmet in my top box when I park so perhaps I should start carrying my spare top box key incase I lose it.(or at lest put it under the seat since I do carry the spare key for the bike) I live in a state that you don't need a helmet but I will not ride without one. |

| Be thankful,SilverWing (and Burgman 400) still have cheap keys....the way it should be! Good, pro locksmith usually has some sort of blank that will work. Recently I had 2 keys made in WI=$8 for the pr. The day of $400 keys is coming for scooters. BMW is already there(car) Hyundai Gensis, too----scooters is Vespa the only one with rip off keys? |

| SilverWing keys with HISS cost around 40GBP. The blank is £12, getting it cut costs ~£5 at your local shop and the Honda charge ~£25 for matching it to your scoot. We haven't quite reached the $400 yet !! |

| PM me if you want a suggestion where to hide a spare key on your Silverwing. All you need to retrieve it is a screwdriver if you leave the screw in place. Key itself can be tied or zip-tied to something underneath. Not putting the location on an open forum and I wouldn't expect anyone else to do so.
Cheers, |

| I had seen recommendations for the Axxess #27 key blank for the Swing. Did not work for my bike, appeared to be a mirror image. Found blanks at "Key Blank Sales", $10 for 5 shipped. Ilco HD109 x265. Just had a couple cut at the local hardware store, work great. |

| ACE made a spare for me last week for $2.10. Now it's hidden on my scoot and I need to get a key made for the box as well. |

| I had hoped to do the same, have one cut locally, but none of the normal outlets in my area had the correct blanks. Tried Ace, Wally World, auto parts, Home Depot. Finally located correct blank and ordered. Anyway, it is comforting to have adequate spares. |

| My local ACE hardware had the blank and the receipt even said "Honda Motorcycle" as automated description on it... Don't you love uniformity! |

| Until I got my SWing, I never had a spare key thin enough to stick in my wallet. Now I do and I'll never go back. No need for the Honda logo in the wallet - just the metal key and a thin protective rubber sleeve over it... Fantastic spare that I've never lost. Of course, I've left my keys in my jacket and locked it inside the bike by accident. With the spare, however, I've never had to break into the trunk for accidentally locking my primary set inside. If you do accidentally do that and don't have a spare, there are ways to break in if you have to but for security's sake, I'll leave you to talk with your dealer's service and parts departments about it.

. SCTLVR called this right - I now have my spare key! Cost me $2.14 - but worth every penny - it works as well as my original. Key was labeled HD109 - so if your Ace (common in USA) does not have this blank - then maybe they can order it in for you. |

Checked this out and was gonna order some extras till i got to the last page and discovered shipping was $30 to Canada. No thanks. Why can i order a "widget" off ebay and pay $2 for something from Hong Kong shipping included. Shipping from the U.S. $30 , is someone greedy there!!! Cant be |

| Hello! I bought the machine with a key. We still need a key safeguards. I ordered a key blank, blank (no chips), you copied me. Was mechanically perfect. Assign it to a chip. The key and the chip would be EBAY. My question is, I can teach at home in the clip or not to deal with this? If so, what would be a task for it to work? Thanks for the answers |
