I got a leaking front fork ( Left side ) I wanted to do the replacement myself seeing that many others had attempted the task with no problem... I was successful in taking out the front fork after taking off the front wheel and front fender. Then I came across a problem... I was able to loosen the top nut holding the fork, I removed the nut, spacer, washer and spring and after draining the oil from inside the fork, I was not able to remove the fork apart. I attempt to remove the bottom allen nut but it only kept going in circle. Did I go wrong somewhere? or is it that I have to remove the fork seal first in order to have the fork come apart? I have ordered the silverwing manual but it would only arrive in 7 days... I wish to ride this coming weekend... PLEASE HELP this newbie mechanic.

| I've replaced 4 fork seals on two Silverwings. I've never had to remove that bottom allen bolt.
IIRC it was just a matter of popping out the dust seal and then using a long thin sheet metal screw to grab into the oil seal and pull it out.
I used a 2" dia 12" - 18" long piece of PVC with a couple of saw cuts lenghtwise about half way down so that the PVC could fit over the fork tube and into the 'bottom case' to drive the new oil seal.

Thank you all for sharing information and manual pages, but I continue to scratch my head in thinking why the bottom allen bolt wishes not to come off.. I re-assembled the top upper fork ( placing back the inner spring, washer, spacer, oil and tighten the top nut) place it back to the scooter and tighten the nuts to hold the fork in place, went to the bottom of the allen bolt and attempted to remove it while it sat on the scooter, but all the allen bolt did was to turn in circles, I try turning it to the Right to loosen and Left to tighten, but with no success either way, it just continued to go round and round with no ending. I could hear the inside of the tube turning in circle while I did this a couple of times. It appears that the whole allen bolt and what ever is holding the allen bolt inside are just turning in circle no matter what I do.. Any recommendations to my problem? I would hate to be on foot this coming Labor day weekend

Have you tried putting the fork back together then removing the bolt?

Thank you all... I got it out.. the Allen Bolt had a play which kept going in circle inside the tube. I read somewhere after searching several other sites where others had the same problem and they used a broom stick to keep the inner assembly from not moving while taking the allen bolt out... It worked I was able to unseal the allen bolt and finally got the tube out along with the seal. It seems like I will be riding this weekend again : )
