Only my opinion but semi synthetic is more than adequate for any engine that is 'run in'

Cheers,

I use the synthetic oil that Walmart has on sale at the time, and replace at Honda recommended time ,use Wick oil filter ,the longer one.I clean the filter in Varsol ,and replace every second oil change. Honda makes a bullet proof engine and last for 100K miles minimum. motorcycle

You clean a spin on oil filter in solvent and replace it every second oil change?
You Canucks sure have some crazy ideas on normal maintenance.

I've used Royal Purple or Amsoil in the past. Smooth performance. Less wear.

I change the oil every 4 to 6 weeks all my riding on unpopulated HW,no pollution ,all clean air .After 10 k kl my oil is still clean , no dirt or metal peaces on screen. 30 k kl in 5 month a year riding,7 months hibernation every year. n Not the same as riding smog all the time. motorcycle

I assume you meant to say you clean the SCREEN, not filter, in varsol and replace the FILTER, not the screen, every second oil change. Your post made no sense when you said you clean the FILTER in varsol.

Also, you will never see dirt or metal pieces on the screen. The purpose of the screen is to prevent anything being sucked UP into the oil pump. That way if there were any foreign or loose engine parts in the sump they would not jam the oil pump and lead to complete loss of lubrication.

My owners manual recommend that the oil is to be change every 12k kl or 8400 K miles, I change the oil at 6 k kl and filter at 12 k kl recommended interval. Others on this forum some do there oil change and filter at a shorter interval, and my opinion is that a wast of time. Not that the filter needs cleaning at 6 k kl . I have 2 k kl since my last oil change and new oil and filter will be done and cylinder fogging for the winter. motorcycle

8400 K miles = 8 400 000 miles.
