| Well Hello everyone, I am new to all this really - but have been planning, budgeting, dreaming, testing, reading, asking, researching for a Honda Silverwing 600 or Majesty 400 or B650.... for past 6-18 months on and off. I have decided to park/sell for parts my Chinese 2008 Roketa Bali 150 touring blue scooter in my garage and ...... so out grown it and it's unreliability....anyway...Majesty, Burgman.....no, Silverwing - yes. Honda reliability/service/ease. However, it did provide me with great base experience. Love CVT motorcycles. So excited - almost difficult to sleep -- I know LOL - little boy! I love to ride on 2 wheels... FINALLY, I am to own/ride home 25 miles, next weekend - Candy Red 2003 Silverwing FSC600D - non ABS SILVERWING. 16700K miles, -- Gorgeous condition - she had Honda service last autumn - new tires/tyres - new pads, new fork seals, oils...etc // She did drop it on it's side, backing down her driveway, scratching muffler protector and side sill....Too high for her , otherwise perfect, balanced, super torquey, solid build.....feels great and stable and WOW. Love it. Only upgrades I will do is a GIVI touringW/shield and maybe Sintered pads..... I have been commuting 32-33 miles daily....off hwy with 150cc...omg 40-50 minutes of annoying traffic lights=traffic retarders, even with gentle lane-splitting.....I have tried a few times on hwy at 55-60mph --- a real joke. But, now, it's dark so early at 5-5.30pm, the headlights are useless and dangerous overall. This way, commuting is easy 20 mins, not rushing and I get to kiss my 3 kids and wife before riding work at 7:15am, instead of 6:45-7am !!! Less mpg --- Far more fun, safety, confidence, comfort, and more fun. Anyhow, I'll update when I have it paid, parked in my garage. Hi. Michael PS: sorry if my first post is a little long winded. |

| Hello and welcome,
The Givi screen that is favoured by many is the Airflow AF214. Adjustable to suit the conditions, heat, speed etc. If you do get one just make sure you make sure the adjusters grip the top section securely (two 10mm nuts).
Silverwing is a lot of fun, enjoy it.
Cheers, |

| Welcome Michael. I have a 150cc Chinese scooter, too - Keeway. I've taken good care of it (well..........the dealer I bought it from has taken good care of it for me ) and it has 10,800 miles on it! I bought a 2003 Silverwing Last year (practically FELL into my lap!) and loved it! I'd been looking around for one and that one was right time, right place, right money! I rode it for 3 months and promptly CRASHED it, pulling out of a driveway on sand and gravel I went down sooooooooooo fast!! Insurance totaled the bike (plastic is expensive!!) , broke my leg, got 8 stitches in my elbow where I laid it open, and had to go back to riding the 150 for this year Not a happy camper here. Have been looking again for another Swing and again, right time, right place, right money and I just got a 2006 600ABS last week!! Got to ride it home a week ago Sunday (70 degrees!) and the next day it SNOWED!!! BUT ........... this week is back in the 50s so I am getting to ride to work these three days before Thanksgiving (who'da thunk it??! ) and I will probably have to put it up for the winter after this week You'll LOVE the Swing. Well balanced, easy to handle, goes FAST when you need it, but pretty easy to handle the slow speeds of traffic in town as well. Do the maintenance as suggested and your Swing should last you a good long time .... I say when the fear outweighs the fun is when I'll quit riding ... even after the spill/injuries, the fun is still there (a little nervous but getting better with experience again) so I am back up on the two BIG wheels Hope you have as much fun on the big bike as you've had on the little one ... |

| Update: SILVERWING rules ! I absolutely love this motorcycle scooter - the power, confidence and ride and comfort and looks ( 2003 Ruby Glory red). OK, so it drinks more and my insurance doubled. Still looove to ride a 'real' motorcycle-scooter with no clutch. Haven't dropped/laid it, yet....just rode to work on I-405(N) to work this morning - 16 miles in drizzle - confidence and comfort. still have OEM w/s and cruised at 65-70mph...buffeting around 75+...yet after reading Upgrades: DDM Tuning 35W 4500K HID twin kit - Thank you all folks for all your help with installing and tips - you are all quite hilarious and generous. Only managed to fit the low beam - yes, I also broke one clip on the fron garnish - no problem reinstalling: amazing build quality/design by Honda !!! 90 minutes trying to work it in safely.... |

| ...was interrupted: some questions - oh no !!!
w/s turbulence above 70-75mph - not terrible - but I do see everybody's point - I do prefer seeing over OEM w/s while riding - I always wear a full-face solid brain-case. Concerned about passenger for later...
Will a K&N air filter replacement really make a difference in MPG ? Obviously, driving smoothly, and I let it warm up 1-2 minutes before riding gently until operating temp reached = 3/5 ?? Steady as a rock. I only burst accel when getting out of the way etc.
Thank s |

| On a carburetted engine a 'better' airfilter will improve fuel mileage, i.e. the mixture will be leaner, with the risk of running too hot and seize the piston(s). On the SW the air-fuel ratio is electronically controlled (by the MAP sensor and the ECM), so a less restricted filter will not improve mileage, but might gain an extra ponypower. I have been driving my Civic with a K&N for over 50.000 Miles without cleaning ( ) and the mileage never changed. A while ago I asked the mechanic in the garage if he had ever cleaned the filter and he told me he never touched it because of the 'K&N' sticker After 50.000 Miles it was quite dirty, so I cleaned and re-oiled it myself, but found no difference in mileage. |

| Merci / Danke Rodenbach, Well, that explains a lot - I too have K&N filters in my 1998 Chevy Blazer / 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan - never cleaned it - works perfectly/ no change in mpg.... might be time to oil clean it though LOL... Marketing hype then - I will spend my hard earned cash elsewhere, for my SW. |

| At K&N they are honest about it: - Quote :
1.How will a K&N filter affect my vehicle's fuel economy?
There is a relationship between air filter restriction and mileage. The theory behind this is simple, the harder an engine has to work to suck air through the intake tubes and air filter, the more gas gets wasted in the process. Many K&N users report an increase in their fuel economy after beginning to use our air filters, as noted on our testimonial page. However, these experiences do not mean you will also experience a change in your mileage. We certainly understand why it is theoretically possible for a consumer to experience a mileage increase after installing a K&N air filter or intake system, however, we do not go so far as to make a general claim that our air filters and intake systems will provide an increase in mileage.
It is virtually impossible to make sweeping and general claims about mileage. Even the EPA fuel rating numbers for new cars are often not representative of the mileage you actually experience. There are many variables that affect mileage such as: tire inflation, the type of fuel, weather, elevation, the speed at which you drive, the gear in which you drive, the speed with which you accelerate, engine maintenance, excessive idling, cruise control, the grade of motor oil you use, and of course, the condition of your air filter. In short, mileage is complicated.
K&N filters are less restrictive than disposable paper or synthetic air filters and K&N Intake Systems are less restrictive than the factory installed air path. So K&N filter technology could be an important tool, when combined with other elements, to help keep mileage as high as possible.
Oh yeah, there's one more limitation imposed by science. If you take advantage of added power by driving more aggressively, you will reduce mileage. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
2. What increase in horsepower should I expect from a K&N replacement filter?
K&N direct replacement filters which install into your vehicle's factory air box can provide an increase of between 1 and 4 horsepower. Results will vary depending on your vehicle, driving habits, load on the engine (towing for example), existing air system restriction, and other factors. http://www.knfilters.com/faq.htm#1 |

| D'accord - well I do try to ride smoothly -- but it is difficult to resist the temptation to burst accel every now and then...LOL... or more importantly, when a car is just too close for comfort. Perhaps I may install one for ease and cleanliness overall. Thanks. |

| Yeah, the bad thing about the Swing is the ease with which it pulls easily over 'the ton'. Is great fun, but doesn't help the MPG's... |

| I will be able to see the difference a K&N makes. My son works over near their plant in Riverside, CA and was able to get one for me at employee cost! Bad part is my son still has the filter in California... But as soon as it gets to me!!! |

| I will be replacing oil/filter KN-204 this weekend, and replace air filter KN too my riding issue - on I-405 pool lane - just cannot cruise at 65mph -have to cruise at 70-77 LOL. Otherwise, the traffic in mornings are terrible if you're not in pool lane/HOV. Hope you receive your filter. |

| Congratulations on the new bike Michael, the fastest color too! I don't know how good the K&N filter is on the SW but I didn't like the one I had on my GL1800. By the second cleaning you could hold it up to the sun and see a lot of bright spots indicating there were some areas where the filter media wasn't very solid. The fact that they claim better breathing inherently means the filter has larger air passages since it actually has less area than the pleated OEM ones. One other point is the fact that it can't be perfectly cleaned so over time it looses some of it's efficiency. On my GW I didn't see any difference in performance between the OEM and K&N though there was more intake noise with the K&N. I switched to the OEM. I did like the K&N filter for my floatplane in Juneau. Mainly because a paper intake filter might disintegrate from spray while the oil impregnated filter held up well. |
