I changed the oil for the first time on this recently purchased Silverwing and the book shows a round oil screen inside the engine. I only saw a spring not the screen. Does that mean the screen was previously removed and not replaced? If so, I assume running without it is not good. Any comments?

I did that but did not feel anything that was not rigid. Maybe I just don't know what to look for. Should it have fallen out?

I did my 600 mile oil change and I must admit...this bike is the easiest oil change I have ever done. I love the easy access....I did have to purchase the Honda #5 oil wrench however; getting the original factory oil filter (without the #5 wrench) did not work well for me.

The SWing is very easy to change the oil. I bought the filter wrench, I think it is the #5, and it makes it so easy. I tried the first few times with the old style filter wrench it and seemed more difficult. I did a pictorial years ago but like Pastor Ron said..it is very easy.
