| Does anyone know where I can purchase (and for how much) a Side Visor Set for my 2012 Swing? It goes on the left and right side near the bottom of the fairing to keep wind and rain off of your legs. I had one with my old Burgman 400 and would like to place one on my Swing |

| I'd say they're very effective in channeling cold winds and rain away from the riders legs and feet especially at motorway/autobahn/interstate speeds. I've already posted about a long autobahn ride I completed last year in heavy rain where I only wore a rain jacket over my summer riding kit, and I was impressed by the combined effectiveness of the Airflow and lower wind deflectors in keeping me dry and comfortable. I've had mine fitted from new and I much prefer them to the foot trapping pieces of rubbish that I fitted to my 650 Burgman and removed the next day. As good as the Honda wind deflectors are, if you live somewhere like the Southwest USA or don't have a lot of cold and wet weather then they're just going to be ornamental, and about as much use as fitting a can or beverage holder is here in the UK. |

| I had them fitted to my 06 while I was still working in Western Pennsylvania. They were a blessing on my 25+ mile commute to work as the kept they cold wind and the wet off of my legs. Now that we are living in the desert southwest and the temperatures are in the triple digits I believe they would be a curse.
As a side note my sweetie and I wear full face helmets with the face shields removed. We are also in the process of installing an Airflow windshield for the benefit of being in the steam of air. |

| There was a guy who used to sell homemade deflectors on eBay a few years ago. Looked like he cut them out from black landscape edging material (but it is from some other kind of material). He sold them for about $20 shipped. They could be fitted and removed in just a few minutes - they fastened under the floor mats.
I don't remember how to contact him, but it might be in old posts (from 2-3 years ago). They look decent and the price is right; it might be worth some time to search the forum. |

| The AF screen, and wind deflectors works best for the rider, not the pillion, they still get buffeting and wind on the legs,so I was told by my pillion. |

| Thanks tinman. That is one disadvantage I see with a scooter from a Pillions point of view, their legs are placed outside of the scooters fairing and rider compared to likes of a fully faired touring bike. Are you sure they don't help a tiny bit, just looking for a plausible reason... you know "I bought these for you dear, I thought they would help" |

Not everyone was willing to fork out a $100 more than we pay in the UK to import a set of genuine Honda Silver Wing leg deflectors, that's the name they're not 'side visors'. Another reason was a bloke on eBay in the US was knocking out his home made version for the Silver Wing for $20. They were made from some sort of flexible black plastic garden trim and done pretty much the same job, and were less likely to break if you dropped the scooter. |

| A significant portion of the cost I've found is in the shipping. If you order two or even three sets at once, they can be placed in the same box for shipping, thus eliminating shipping costs on additional pairs. So if 2-3 of you get together and order at the same time it will bring down the cost a good bit.

| The problem with ordering several sets of anything is that the higher (declared) commercial value of the package is more likely to attract import taxes.
Goods coming into the UK are duty free up to a total value of £135. Any higher and the recipient is liable for Customs Duty and VAT (UK sales tax).
Going the "other way" may be different, but is worth investigating before ordering. It could cost more, especially if the up front purchase price already has UK VAT (20%) added at point of sale (ie if one of us buys and ships). |

| They're called Leg Deflectors in the Honda Accessories catalogue but since you're obviously trying to make your point by printing side visors using upper case letters, they do call them that on my Sales Invoice from 2010. Not that it matters that much to me mate, especially as I paid what currently converts to $118.35, that's $124 less that you've bought them for mate, and they fitted them for free. |

| The main part of the deflector is 'glued' on, the very bottom has a 'popper' so that the lower body panel can be removed. The adhesive held the deflector in place when I was blown over in Ireland the other week and the plastic survived with only a few scratches ! |

| The deflector just had a few scratches, the centre stand extension (the bit you tread on) took the brunt of the fall and will need a bit of hammerite to make it good again. Some touch up paint will solve all the other scars as soon as it arrives. Emerald Isle and people are very pleasant but we now know how it got it's name !! |
