| I went to my selling dealer yesterday on other business, but did get to the parts department and for a lark asked about tires. I told him I wanted IRC SS530R, this is the tire that came on the scoot and with nearly 11K on it I have been pleased with it.
He looked up the tire and said it would be 128 bucks (about what most places charge), THEN he said since it is an OEM tire he would see if he could get it from Honda. After looking he found it for 68 dollars...! I said are you SURE? He said yes; he found this to be the case on one other Honda model so he liked to check. It is available so I said GRAB it at that price. So the IRC rubber is 50% cheaper direct from Honda. Interesting. It will arrive in 3-5 days max and the service dept said if I drive scoot in they will install it for $35.00, a bit more if it needs a valve stem.
For 35 bucks I am NOT going to try and remove the rear wheel...
Anyway, I will see if they have the front tire as well and grab one when rear is replaced.
Has anyone heard of this? I was amazed that my dealer came up with this, but they are pretty good guys (a mom and pop type shop not a megastore). |

| Got my new tire installed today. $35.00 installed plus 13 bucks for a new valve stem (I requested it may not have been needed). I was amazed at the amount of tread new rubber has!
So a new IRC rear tire for about $118.00 installed and I did NOT have to remove the tire? Color me happy!!! Got 10,590 miles out of old tire and probably could have got a bit more but winter approaches. |
