I fancy having a go at making a trike kit for my SW. Its too cold at the mo to do anything here in the shed so I am just kicking ideas around so I will be ready to start when the weather is better. There doesn't seem to be anyone in the uk offering a kit for the SW. Looking at photos on the net there is a few different ways do attach the kit to the bike. They all seem to use the centre stand lugs as a main attach point then some are attached at the rear with long bars going up under the rear mudguard to the frame top loop and some attach at the front forward of the main stand mid way along the bike. Are these attached to the engine mounts. Some are attached right at the front are these attached to the main chassis rails. I don't want to cut any of the plastics if possible. Most kits use trailer indespension units for the wheels. I had an idea of using a pair of scooter front wheels say 10 inch and make a small swinging arm at each side fitted with a single shock this way I could fit a disc brake on each wheel.
I fancy attaching to the centre stand lugs and the engine mounts. What do you think.

Sounds an interesting project. When I was looking at trikes I think one of the UK makers (Wales somewhere) had a trike based on the Burgman and there are kits in the USA so it is possible. I ended up with a Grinnall based on the BMW R1200C, it's just for fun at the moment, but it will get serious when my knees get too weak for the SWing !!

Have you tried using the search function (upper left hand)? There have been a number of discussions by members who have trikes. Good luck with your project. cheers

Go on line and look at the Voyager Trike Kits. They use the center stand mounts and an additional plate mounted to the lower frame tubes. I have one on my Silver Wing and love it.
