| I had a crash on the motorway at around 70mph(back tire blew) got the bike up with barely any damage(scruffs from the slide, but it didn't hit anything) so got the bike to service to get it looked over and fixed if needed. Today noticed that the brake lights are not responding to push(looked around and noticed that on the left side little metal switch had jumped out) so i took of the brake leaver(by unscrewing one bolt) and put it back where it goes now my bike would not start(i'm thinking i've done something to brake leaver and it's not allowing my bike engine to turn) battery has been checked and is fine. have checked all the fuses and all the lights work perfectly(including rear left side panel fuses)
could i have disengaged some sort of switch on the left brake leaver by removing it ? |

| Hi bud, there are two switches on the left lever, first click is the brake light, second is starter motor isolator, can you hear both switches clicking ?
Where in England BTW, there may be a nearby member that could have a look. |

| Switch could be damaged. Unscrew the bottom screws that hold the switch but leave the wires connected. The bike should start, and the brake light should be on as the contacts are normally closed, if not, short the two sets of wires, one set lights the rear brake light, the other set enables the starter. If this works, you need a new switch. |

| Went outside listening for the second click, heard it and the bike started, I'm wondering if the switch is old and needs replacing |

| olly first let me welcome you to the best Silverwing forum on the www . How long have you had your Silverwing? And how old is your Silverwing? It wouldn't hurt to order a switch but I doubt you really need one. Below are some links that may help you in the long run. And if you can't find what you need with them the search is pretty good on this forum. If you can't find what you need with any of them just ask, as you can see from your first post there's always people willing to help you. Here is a link to introduce yourself and tell us about you and your scooter. And here is a link to learn some accessories and modifications you can do to your scooter. And here is a link to help you do maintenance on your scooter. |

That's good,a nice cheap fix I've had mine for over a year now & still don't always pull hard enough on the lever every time As Roger said ^^ pop a few lines in the Introduction section, about yourself & your scoot,it will save us keep asking the same questions each time you post Welcome to the forums BTW |

| The switch does tend to fail, I replaced mine only last week. The brake light contacts failed months ago and the starter enable contacts did sometimes stick, taking more than a few attempts of squeezing the lever until finally it did start. |

| Depends what you call reasonable, but Wemoto in Brighton show rear brake switch at £22.50. Probably cheaper than Honda OEM part. No connection with the company, but I've always had good service from them.
It may be worthwhile (and cheaper!) to try spraying some contact cleaner into the switch and working the brake lever a few times to see if that makes it any better. I did that when the kill switch was playing silly whatsits - works a treat now. I used GT85, but WD40 would probably do as well.

| Hey guys ! I've got a question , will 2009 front fairing fit a 2003 model ? As in are the connections the same ? When I had my slide I ripped a chunk out of the fairing and would like to replace it, the only fairing that I found that would be in my budget is a 2009 one, oem part is waaaay too much for a 10year old bike |
