| Howdy guys. Finally getting a Silverwing. Joined this forum in 2013 when I was looking at new bikes. Ended up getting a Burgman 650 however after 3 Burgman's (2-650's, 1-400) thought I'd try the SW. Picking up Swing this week over in Dallas. Bought from a Dallas motorcycle cop who rides the scooter to work everyday. |

| Dan re-welcome to the from. I looked through some of your old posts and saw you had a dirt road to your house, how did the Burgmans handle your driveway? Are you bike-less right now or do you have other bikes or scooters. There seems to be a lot of Silverwings for sale lately. Do you know the age and mileage of the soon to be your Silverwing? I hope you enjoy your "new" scooter. This if the number one place to learn everything Silverwing. Look around and if you can't find what you need the search on this forum works good, and if you still need help just ask and someone will do what they can to answer your questions. |

| Thanks Roger and Dick. Roger the Burgman does OK on the dirt road but doesn't like the deep sand in spots. My previous Goldwings didn't do well with the loose stuff. That's why I've gone with smaller bikes. I presently have a 2007 Burgman Exec. and a Honda 919. The Silverwing is a 2003 with 39k, ABS, red. Getting for 2k, clean and excellent condition. |

| Cool sounds like you got a good deal Dan. After all a well taken care of Silverwing can run for hundreds of thousands of miles. |

After replacing the drive belt on my Burgman 650 and only getting about 40k, I decided I was done with the 650. I was lucky and had a buddy help me tear the bike down and replace. To him it was no big deal but let me tell you it is. The belt and some O rings was nearly $500. Dealer repair would have been several thousand. I have 96k on the 650 but don't have the confidence in the bike for long trips. So I will sell that and my 919. Decided to simplify with one bike and the Silverwing wins out. Should be picking it up on Thursday. |

| Yes, picked it up in Dallas today and trailered home. Initial inspection indicates a need for tires. Can't believe a Dallas motorcycle cop riding on a bald rear tire and hauling one of his kids to baseball practice on a tire with exposed cord. Noticed some head shake at low speeds going into corners. Haven't gone through it totally yet but cosmetically is very clean. |

| Do you know of any silver wing riders from close to Longview. I have only seen one in Longview and that was a fast glance at that. |

| Yes, Ross Murphy owns a SW and is in Longview but don't think he's a member here. He's on FB. He also has a shop at home and restores Cushman's. If you want his contact info. send me a PM? |

You can CHECK Here to see if there's a scooter group close to you. Some bike groups will let big scooters ride with them. But I'd let them know ahead of time that you ride a scooter and it's capable of riding highway speeds and above. |
