If you've been watching my other posts, I decided to change to Dr pulley 26 gram sliders, and change my belt. With your help, all went well. I got everything changed, I was super excited. Torqued the variation nut (with a torque wrench I might add), and was so excited! Turned the key, and something went wrong......

I left the (insert most obscene explicit here) variator tool on the variator. So basically, I tried cranking the engine with the variator tool installed to prevent the variator from turning when I was tightening the variator nut.

I feel about 3 inches tall. Scooter will not DO ANYTHING when I turn the key. No warning lights on the dash, NOTHING. I was on top of the world, saving money doing this myself and f*cked it up.

What is wrong? What do I do now?

I take it the variator tool prevented the engine from making a complete revolution and the engine did not start up. I would think this has nothing to do with the dash lights coming on.If the engine is not turning over now and you have no dash lights I would think it may be a coincidence and you have a bad connection at the battery or it may need charging. As they say keep it simple. Let us know.

affraid
Trying to start the engine with it effectively locked could have simply blown a fuse somewhere.
Have a look at them - they're easy to get at.
Don't forget the main fuse which lives under the left hand rear panel and is the only awkward one to get at. If nothing is working at all then the main fuse would be my top suspect.
Don't worry just yet - it's probably something simple.

Loose battery cable.

And, my favorite trick is putting a tool down and going back to get it. It's not where I left it but after about 5 minutes or so when I go back it's right where I left it. Maybe it just didn't register in my brain the first time OR being almost 70 years old the brain is finally snapping and not working anymore.

It's the same way while sitting here at my desk. I go into the kitchen to get something and can't remember what the heck I went out there for. Come back here and retrace my thoughts and steps and get what it was I wanted in the first place. I keep repeating it to myself on the way, "Get a cup of coffee. Get a cup of coffee"... Then I have my coffee and all is good again. :lol!:

When I 'lose' things, senior management usually say "I bet someone's put it right where you left it"! Why are they always right??

Dale, I can relate to everything you have said, but isn't it so frustrating.
The other thing that happens to me a lot, is when I come to a road junction to pull out on to a main road, the whole world goes by before I can pull out. ggggggggggggggr

Yes Winger, Senior moments and brain farts!

Tommo that road is usually deserted most of the day too. Just not when you or I want to use it.
