| Well that was easy, only thing I'm missing is a 24mm socket to torque the sump p!ug up. In fact so far this beastie is turning out to be easy peasy to work on. Another couple of K and I'll tackle the belt :-) |

Make sure it is a 6 point 24mm socket to prevent stripping the plug (tappit). |

Get the Honda shop manual, you'll be glad you did. Lots of them on eBay. |

Get the Honda shop manual, you'll be glad you did. Lots of them on eBay. If you mean eBay UK, it's a waste of time. The only Haynes manuals (which are to the UK are like Clymer manuals are to the US) will be for the old GL 500 Silver Wing motorcycle. A used Honda FJS 600 Silver Wing manual occasionally comes up for sale and usually sells for far more than it's worth, simply because the few US sellers of Honda FSC 600 Silver Wing manuals on eBay UK are asking £46, and another £26 for postage. Plenty of UK forum members including myself have bought their manuals direct from the US for half of that price including shipping. All the info about the sellers are well documented on here. Plus the very nice Sir Jeff_R has an Oil Change Pictorial that comprehensively shows you what do do, and how to do it. If you haven't looked at the drain plug, it's not the usual steel plug but actually an alloy Honda tappet cover. The golden rule is you need a 6 point socket to loosen it, use a multi point socket and you'll likely knacker the job and round off the corners. |

| The only sensible use for 12 points is opening beer... :-) |

| That sump plug is certainly a bit of a pain. Not only is the alloy soft but also the hexagon is very shallow. Most sockets have a bit of a chamfer around the opening which means they only grip the edges of the hexagon.
I got a good 6 point socket and then put it in a lathe and skimmed a couple of mm off the open end to remove the chamfer. I find it now fits more snugly and feels much less likely to slip off. |

Many years ago I used to be very proud of the fact that I could open beer bottles with my teeth! (I was an idiot back then as well). I really came to regret that more recently as those particular teeth now keep falling to bits... |

| Davefirestorm...Myself and several other forum members got a manual from this guy http://www.service-shop-repair-manual.com/honda-silver-wing-fsc600-fsc600a-part-61mct11-service-shop-repair-manual/ Had mine a while now and if I recall the total price sent from US was £35 including postage. The seller was very good and kept me informed at all stages of delivery which only took a week. If you're interested send him an email and he'll give you a price. Den |
