| Took the wheels of my Silverwing, going to have the tires removed and the rims powdercoated this week and I noticed this wear pattern on the front wheel. The right side with more wear is the brake side, is that normal? Has anyone else encountered this or have thoughts? |

| In country's where you drive on right side of the road most front tires wear uneven on the left side due to the crown of the road. |

| Getting the answer isn't a waste the crown of the road and left hand curves will do that. |

| Maybe it does, but the tyre treads are always in plain sight and when you get down and dirty checking the pressures. You don't just 'notice' wear like that and act surprised. |

I neither "just noticed it" nor was "surprised" Reverend Mildrew, sir. I didnt know what caused it. I thought maybe its a worn bearing, braking etc. As this is my first bike, the crowning of the road didnt immediately come to mind. |

| It does however mean you are cornering with sufficient enthusiasm :-) But allowing it to wear that much is a bit silly, you need enough tread to clear water when it rains. A skid from the back you can usually manage, a skid from the front usually means a crash. Always change the front tyre early. |

| A VERY informative explanation of tyre wear is available on ' www.rattlebars.com/tirewear/ It's fairly lengthy but well worth a read. Might clear up a few misconceptions on how and why tyres wear as they do.

Increasing and maintaining air pressure will cure many of these strange wear patterns, Plus it will prelong the life of your tires and improve your bikes handling. Rattlebars web site is no longer on line. Happy motoring lloyd193. |

| I would be concerned about that degree of uneven wear. I have seen front tires showing slightly more wear on one side but never to that extent. |
