Do you eat Euopean pork sausages, please read

Thought I'd better post this.

A leading British supermarket may unwittingly have infected thousands of people with a pig virus that causes liver cirrhosis and neurological damage, say researchers at Public Health England.

Hepatitis E (HEV) is transmitted by sausages and pork products from Europe, mainly Holland and Germany. Scientists at PHE, a government agency, have traced the shopping habits of infected people and found that a common factor is consumption of own-brand sausages from “Supermarket X”.

PHE and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) have refused to name Supermarket X but two separate sources said it was Tesco.

Stick with American sausage. Don't order sausage pizza, guys when out and about on your bikes in Europe.

Cooking it doesn't kill the virus?? I find it odd they won't name the source.

So where are you going to find American sausage in the UK or mainland Europe? I believe very little American meat and meat products are exported over here, simply because of the levels of antibiotics and growth hormones present.

So this in fact is true. Have you heard about it? I agree with you on the antibiotics and growth hormones, its horrible. Luckily we try to have fish a couple times a week.

The info I gave was all that I knew about it, maybe more might be available on BBC, don't know. But it is scary.

Happy that this is being phased out, faster than I thought it would.
