| Hi guys.. Nothing earth shattering here, but when I filled up my Swing the other day for the 1st time, I went to reset the trips but the Mode button doesn't seem to be doing anything... Then I noticed that the clock was an hour ahead, so I tried to reset the clock, using the instructions in the handbook... Nada. It's not the end of the world if this is the only fault I find, but I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with non-functional switches? I've done a few searches over the last few days on here, and I'm at a bit of a loss.
The bike's in top condition for a 2007 A7 model (8800 miles) and everything else is working fine..
Is this something that's cropped up before? It's been a while since I've had dash buttons that need the point of a key to activate, and these certainly don't feel like those...
Everything works perfectly on the dashboard. All the correct lights light up and go out when they should, and the self test on start up shows a fully functional LCD.
Could it be indicative of a battery that's losing power, perhaps? |

| Dunno about your battery condition, but those Mode/Reset buttons can be a bit awkward --especially if you have sausage fingers. They (the buttons) just push on tiny micro switches on the Combination Meter circuit board. If worst comes to worse you may want to pull the CM board and spritz those micro switches with electrical circuit cleaner.

| + 1 on what Tim's just said. My riding buddy who has a 2003 Swing has recently had the same problem. Couldn't reset the clock, mileage or V light. So he bit the bullet and stripped out the dash, got access to the switches and gave them a good dose of switch cleaner and all working ok now. Not a job for a spare hour or the faint hearted though |

| Thanks guys...
I'll have a proper look at it tomorrow or the day after..
Hopefully it'll be working after a closer inspection. It'll be the first Honda I've had that's had dashboard button problems.. I read on another post about the clock resetting when they tried to start the bike and there was a mention of possible battery issues, which prompted me to ask...
I'm still getting used to the amount of time it seems to take from turning the key to being able to engage the starter! It might be just me, but it seems to need a moment or two to think about things first...
As I said before, though - if that's the worst thing to go wrong, I'll be happy... |

That doesn't sound right. Perhaps you've got battery connection or ignition switch problems. |

| Panic over.
Buttons work, it's just me that doesn't!
Went to the garage to have a quick look and they work.. just a little differently to the others I've used.. I know that sounds crazy, but it feels like I have to hold the button just a tiny bit longer...
Anyhoo.. Trip resets have now been reset, so.... |

| Good problem solved. Takes about two-three seconds before mode changes. |

| Yup... I was a bit worried about something like that going; A) On a Honda, and B) On such a well-looked after machine...
Glad it was just me. |

| A friend of mine here had a similar problem trying to set the clock on his Silverwing and solved it the same way, press the button longer. |
