| As you should -- I just wanted to provide fair warning to everyone on the forum. I bought the CD because one of the other tracks was on a video game I played a lot. I like it all, but not everyone will.
I think I could get hooked on the road in that video... |

| I appreciate the warning. Was not familiar with the band nor its music, so did some research...the one song, Dear God, is a good tune with lyrics which have universal meaning to all...loneliness, separation and hoping loved ones are well.
The other songs I listened to were, to me, very depressing and musically harsh and strident. I reviewed some of their lyrics and read about the band's history in Wikipedia. Not really my thing, despite the one good song.
To each his own...
Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming. Sorry about the detour I caused... |

Robert The Honda Uk website seems to be saying that the new 700 range will be available/launched on the 14/15 April. I won't be able to get over that weekend, as I hope to be in Scotland on a 3 day jaunt with some off roading mates. The Swing may struggle I suspect.... I reckon the the Integra may be able to tackle a gentle dirt track with some trail rubber. Somehow, I don't see the local dealers being impressed if I was to bring it back with grass buried in the forks on my test ride though... |

| I have been monitoring this site:
http://www.fuelly.com/motorcycle/honda/nc700x
and they are getting some very good mpg's with this bike. I was very curious about the NT700 but it seems it isn't selling very well here so I'm afraid they may discontinue it, and it hasn't been here very long. This NC700 is the only bike out there that has my interest. Although I did sit on a Versys (sp?) and it was very comfortable and had a very upright sitting posture. But it has absolutey no storage at all. If this honda gets 70mpg than that is a very good selling point for me. But it would have to be very comfortable for me to switch. It also cruises at 65mph at a very low rpm, I think it is around 3200 rpm.
Just make sure if you go to the fuelly site that you look up at the top left hand corner to see the coversions for : U.S., liters per 100/km, and things. Just click on the U.S. to see what we use in the states. I never could understand the liters per 100/km thing. |

| Steve, I have no idea why that is. I always thought when I took math and chemistry that the metric system was easier than the system we use. I'm just used to our system since it is really all I know. But the liters per 100/km is the one that really throws me off. I can see if they did km's per liter but that one really stumps me. But if you looked at the link, this 700 sure is getting good mileage. |

But if you looked at the link, this 700 sure is getting good mileage. VERY good MPG, that is pretty damned impressive for usage in the real world. Not sure I believe the 90mpg figure but... I know what you mean on metric system, I grew up with Imperial, but made the move to Metric (on the farm) in the late 70's and have been mixed up ever since!! My kids know what a foot or inch is, in theory, but often ask for an indicator from me when I use such archaic expression A yard is a small metre is good enough for most purposes. All farm work is fully metricated as it is so much easier to work out rates of materials to be applied etc in litres or kg/ha!! |

As I told the sales bod, this maybe the killer for me, I need a test ride PDQ, else my money is going elswhere. It sounds as if all the Integra's are off to Italy |

Pricing will also play a part! I guess it will be down to what individuals want out of their machines. The southern European market is hugely different to that of the UK for example.

My personal take is the the DN-01 was such a "radical" concept, nobody, least of Honda, knew what to do with it! If they had put a Varadero 1000cc motor in it, that would have made more sense in many ways than a 700cc underpowered motor from the Transalp! The DN did allow Honda to "have a go! with the DCT idea though. |

If Honda price the Integra too high it too will end up as a good idea wasted. |

| The Honda DN-01 a bit of a curates egg that one, not many sold yet everyone had their opinion on them. We all know that within a year they were selling them for half their £10000 list price, and dealers are still trying to shift them.
The Integra is just another big wheel scooter or to others a auto 'bike' that a UK rider on an Auto only licence can legally ride after three years, without the effort of getting a Manual licence to ride a motorcycle.
"I don't like changing gears" is often the excuse used in forum posts by scooter riders asking about bikes they can ride on their Auto only licence. That's why there seems to be a lot of interest in the new Honda NC700S with similar DCT transmission to the Integra, because it can't be for the storage capacity or weather protection. The Aprilia Mana 850 is another bike that Auto licence holders favour.

If Honda price the Integra too high it too will end up as a good idea wasted. For me, the £7500 Honda want to charge for the Integra is probably too high unless it has at the very least, cheap aftermarket pannier options PDQ. The Honda units are too small for the money. My other fear, is that the pillion provison is too much of an afterthought... My personal requirement and why the Integra is of interest, is the big wheels and bike suspension along with the ability to change gears when I want to, especially when in hooligan mode. I need to have the ability to stretch my legs out to stop my knees giving a problem, the Swing is excellent from this POV, but lacks in the suspension area BIG time. I tend to use my bike mainly for touring and even last year's minimal usage cranked up nearly 5K miles and I can see that for solo use, the Integra should be good, coupled with good fuel economy. Some suggested a cruiser bike, but they are not my cuppa tea at all, the idea of having arms spread wide at 75mph strikes me as silly even with a barn door screen, and the handling on them is no real improvement over the Swing !!

| It's more to do with getting into a limited choice of motorcycles from a scooter on an Auto only licence without learning to ride a motorcycle Like me you came to scooters from motorcycles and will have a full motorcycle licence. We know how to use a clutch and a sequential gearbox not just twist n' go, and it's pretty simple for us as we can ride whatever we choose. You can't do that if you've only an Auto motorcycle licence but you can ride a motorcycle with an automatic transmission that uses 'Up' and 'Down' switches on the handlebars to change gears. |

...shakes head in wonderment...! So if you had a new Honda DCT bike with the (hugely expensive) optional foot change, would that qualify as auto or manual?? And who really cares in all honesty. To me, the difficulty was moving to a vehicle with no "gears" which meant the damned thing would fall over in slow corners on tickover! Good advice here of a touch of throttle and feather the rear brake and keep a bit of drive going, resolved that problem. |

On the other forum I'm on, there's still plenty of conflicting posts with Honda saying one thing about riding DCT equipped bikes with an Auto licence, and DVLA saying the opposite, like you say who cares. I declined the kind offer to ride a dealers demonstrator Honda VFR 1200 FD with Dual Clutch Transmission and trigger shift controls shortly before I ordered my Silver Wing. I didn't have the slightest bit of interest in it, but because I arrived on a 650 Burgman and maybe looked like an old git with a bob or two, he thought I'd like the VFR. |

| Hi everyone It took me about 5 minutes into the test ride to place an order for the Integra. I currently own a SWT-600 which I love. And yes, the ride was longer than 5 minutes. Compared to the SWT, storage space takes a major hit. Anyone going for the "original" box set, will not be able to fit 2 full size helmets in the 40L original backbox. Also gone is huge storage space "under the seat". The seat height is 79 cm compared to the 74 cm on the SWT. However, the Integra does come with big wheels. A huge change from the front wheel on the SWT. The DCT works like a charm. Sport mode is more fun than the regular Drive mode, and you can still "go manual" anytime and shift the gears yourself. The SWT does not lack anything in power, but you sort of have to throttle it. With the Integra, the thing simply rockets forward as soon as you touch the throttle. The Integra will cost less to maintain and run, it is more fuel efficient which is also a huge factor. There's also the added benefit of constantly smiling under the helmet. The Integra is simply fun to drive. Why they gave it the name of a Honda car from a few years back, is beyond me though, and not entirely sure where the phone/gps is going to go at this point |

Ranz, how tall are you? Very positive to hear that you see the the Integra as a fun bike as well as a practical one. The baby sized panniers are a worry I agree, fine in an urban environment, less so for a fortnight's touring! |

| It is all a matter of perspective. When our roads are newly paved, that stretch is good and any vehicle including probably a buckboard wagon would have a smooth ride. But they allow studded tires here because of the number of people traveling over the passes to go skiing. Those studs destroy the roads quickly. We also have a bit of water coming down often. We call it "liquid sunshine"...it is the only way we can convince ourselves that the "sun" does shine. Most people just call it rain. That washes out the road foundation under the pavement and you get some huge potholes. Add to that the seismic activity that is constantly going around and you have some roads that have made me wonder if a dual-sport bike would be better suited...on the road. I've hit some of the expansion joints on the freeway and been tossed off the seat. I love my Burgman 400, and will probably keep it till I reach 100,000 miles...which won't be that long actually. But the only thing that would entice me to change bikes would be a suspension that could handle the deteriorating roads we have. And with the current budget deficits so high, I doubt we'll see much done to do more than patch, not fix, the roads. Chris |

Chris Sounds like a big stretch of the UK road network after the winter then... It's probably why all those middle aged blokes are trading in their sports bikes for Adventure style bikes as their backs will not cope anymore |

But anyways, regarding the bike, a chance can be given to the bike, as it has already gained too much popularity and a person can't wait but to own it (obviously if it is not over priced). |
