It was darn good, but who wants to attract the attention of roaming bands of merry carol singers. Far better to unplug the door bell, sit in the dark, and hope they go and bother the neighbours instead.

I did give carol singers 50p a few years ago, a Zimbabwean 50p I got palmed off with in some change. I tried to use in shops and vending machines, but it was always spotted. So I held onto it for months and gave it to a couple of out of tune spotty youths caterwauling outside my front door. They were probably going to buy cigarettes or cheap cider with any money they conned out of good folk like myself. I like to think I saved those lads from the evils of tobacco and alchohol.
