| i have a 2007 honda fsc600a last week it quit charging and the engine will intermittently cough and quit usually at idle when at speed you just feel a bump this all happened at the same time i do not have any tec info on this unit i am also looking for a service manual i was checking the unit out yesterday and on the rear stand when i run up the rpm's to around 3000 the engine surges a lot but below and above it runs smooth looking to see if any one has encountered this before the unit has 73000 miles any help thanks |

| 73 000 miles?
Probably not worth the parts you're going to have to replace. Stator, voltage regulator, and fuel pressure regulator. |

| How old is the battery? Will the battery hold a charge? If it runs until you stop the bike may be charging until you stop. If you charge the battery full and let it sit over night how many volts does it have the next day? Need more information. What does this mean? " when at speed you just feel a bump" |

| yes 73,129 miles as of 10/18/2012 the battery is 2 years old i tested the battery ok the bike charges some times and some times it will not i have to keep the battery charged all the time the bump i feel is the bike back firing when i am running at highway speeds the power loss for a second and now yesterday the bike at about 10 mph back fired in the intake area a huge cloud of smoke an now it is leaking oil and the sound of the engine has changed so i am in the process of taking off the body panels so i can see what could be leaking oil so bad it used 1 quart of oil in 20 miles as everyone knows mobil 1 is not cheap and i have to fix it i am still making payments my round trip to work and back to home is 116 miles if my wife dose not send me on any side trips i cant afford to drive my truck the fuel cost is to high thanks |

| Could be time to check the valves, 73k is a lot if you haven't checked the valves. Have you done a search for oil leaks in the Maintenance, Tips and Hints section? |

| I also think that the valve shims need to be replace. To save money remove the tupperware. |
