| Along the line where you see buttons for quote and multiquote, you will now see an exclamation point button also. This button is for reporting spam and other problems to Mods and Admins. We don't review every thread and we do have lives. So we may miss some of what goes on. If you use the report button, you will certainly help us big time, by drawing our attention to problems quickly. Thanks, MOD DAN |

| Nice one I can see two buttons with exclamation marks, one to report the post and the other has a red circle crossed out to 'lock the post for new reports'. Not sure if the second one is intentional or what it used for. |

| Now I see another button beside the 'Edit' with an X to delete the post, was that always there?
Not sure you should allow people to delete their posts, its bad enough when they edit them weeks/months later... |

There are a lot of threads on the site where someone has deleted their response - which leaves a big hole in the thread. I would vote for a system where the poster could edit/delete for some limited time (few days) - then the thread could have more posts - but no more edits. Guessing this is way too complex and makes the moderators job harder - if so, I am OK with the status-quo. |

Not sure you should allow people to delete their posts, its bad enough when they edit them weeks/months later... Why not? Ex member bigbird deleted all his posts when he left and he posted all sorts of useful info. DennisB wanted all his stuff deleted a couple of years ago when he went walkabout for a while, and if someone wants to edit their own posts days, weeks, or even months later why not, it's their words, and they may simply want to articulate their original point better or correct their spelling or grammar. I like to edit my posts, but it's none of my business what everyone else else does to theirs. I've just edited this post again at 12:01 BST 16 August, nothing bad has happened, no one has taken offence, and there's probably only me that'll read this edit .

| There are pros and cons on both ways of having it. This is not my sandbox I don't make the rules I'm just happy to play here. And yes we did lose some good information when bigbird left. |

| Delete is OK if that is what you want to do... If not do not delete....

| On another forum I frequent, we suffered an external attack to the database, resulting in many posts being emptied. This has left some very disjointed and usually pointless conversations.
I've noticed here that one member here has delete ALL of his, with much the same result.
We had one member who regularly posted something contentious, then deliberately deleted the post after others had replied; the result being nonsense!
We now have a short time limit for editing and deleting (we all make mistakes) after which a post cannot be modified by the poster. If the poster later changes their mind, they can request that Admin remove or modify the post/thread.
It works. |

| Here we have 14 days to edit/delete now. That may change but that's the way it is for now.
