New to me Swing owner

Hi everyone just picked up an 05 with 48000 miles. It runs , sounds and looks good. Seems to be taken care of. What are some of the things I should look out for? How hard is it to change the drive belt? etc

Welcome to the site and congrats on your SWing. If you go to the Pictorial section I did a "Pictorial" oh how to change the belt and pins for the J. Costa. Just follow it since it is the same as changing the belt. I would check the belt, oil, and tires to see what their condition is.

I just watched the video about how to change the belt. It is amazingly good. It even had me thinking that it is so easy that even I could do it within 15 minutes.

Of course I'm a crotchety old buzzard and they're a protected species over here, and Meldrew isn't a nickname either.

Yes I own a Silver Wing too and I bought it new, not 'new to me' just new. If I'd have bought a used Silver wing it would have been as I said earlier, a used or pre-owned scooter with one or more previous owners and more than the delivery mileage on it. It's second hand so why dress it up by saying it's new to me. No one talks like that person to person or is it just me being naive? scratch

I'm seriously considering buying a new or low mileage Peugeot Metropolis 400i scooter and when I look online at the few UK Peugeot dealerships handling the Metropolis, it's in the New or Used sections. Maybe in Canada and the US they have a New to You section, so far that hasn't caught on over here.

Thanks Guys for the warm welcome. I know it is used but being my first scooter it is new to me. I currently own a 97 Valkyrie and I thought I would get something to use to go back and forth to work and also for the wife to try to ride. If it holds up like my Valkyrie I will be very pleased. thanks again for your support

Hi Colin! Notice #3 in my list of previous owned bikes. Yes it vibrated and sopped oil but I'm proud to have owned her. I wish it had been a Venom Thruxton!
