| There is a dealer around me that has 3, 2013 silverwings for sale. The price is $5000.00. I would like to get one but I'm somewhat Leary as Honda doesn't make them anymore. Any thoughts on this? |

| Maybe if you are that leary a Silverwing isn't for you. No need to drop $5K only to have gnawing anxiety.
There are documentated cases of the S'Wings going 100,000 miles without any major mechanical problems. I kinda doubt that a Vespa or Harley can rise to that standard. You've been perusing the forum long enough to grasp that the S' Wing is pretty darn reliable.
$5000 is a good price. Buy it, enjoy it. But because weak sales and weak demand have caused Honda to drop the maxi scooter line in the US don't expect it to retain it's value. Parts will be available for many years to come. Just look at the Honda Helix; discontinued in 2001 but parts still available.

| Find out if a "dealer trade" is available to south Georgia. I would gladly pay 5K for a '13, and trade my '05 for it. I know they're not cars, but I'm sure Honda dealerships have a way to move bikes to where they can sell them.

| based om 2 new SilverWings, one left over, now more than 70,000 miles experience.
$5000 decent price, SilverWing heavy, old design, from get go needs windshield, Givi Adjustable seems best, Givi rack and box very handy. Even though scooter has been on market for 15 years or so few Honda dealer know much about it, standard IRC tires on 2013's work fine. 16,000 mile belt changes add to running costs. My book now, really much fun to work on. My left 2013.. over now has 36,000 miles plus
And if you are beginner, it is really not a beginner's bike, but with experience can be ridden safely. My case 55 mpg, plenty of power, comfortable for feet forward riding position, buffeting can be problem during all day rides but remember it is heavy!
I make no mods other than windshield/rear rack. NEP throttle stop can be made to work |

| I wish they would offload a few of those brand new, old SWs here in Australia for that sort of money. Â Honda Australia must have lost all interest in the maxi scooters; even the quite capable SH300i was only sold for a short while here. |

| I think $5000 is a great deal. Heck, I thought $5995 for my NOS 2013 in 2015 was a great deal. However, as pointed out, the market is very soft for these bikes (hence the discount) and you'll still likely take a big hit even on the $5000 price if you resell.
(BTW, I like the stock windshield enough to keep it, but I might be the only one who does. Try it first before replacing, in case you're the second person to actually like it.) |

| Although Honda have stopped production of the Silverwing they are still making the SWT600 which is virtually the same other than some of the bodywork. Most spares are the same between the two so they will be in production for a long time yet.
I also like the standard screen although I added a laminar lip to mine which seems to work well (for me anyway).

| I am the third owner of a 14 year old '02 SWing with 18,000 miles and it runs like a top. No major expenses since new, only maintenance. The engine is the same as used in the CTX 700 and NC 700X; both models in production since about 2010. The CVT transmission is so simple a half a** mechanic can maintain it. I wouldn't worry about buying a 2013 SWing. Dealers will be able to maintain it for years to come. |

| Since when is SilverWing engine same as CTX700??. SilverWing uses shims for valve adjustment,CTX nut and screw. OR? Since when are most Honda Dealers able to maintain SilverWings? Many can screw things up......based on over 70,000 miles of SilverWing use. Best to do yourself or learn how to do yourself. If left alone, no mods, just oil/filter changes, new belts tires, they will/should run 50,000 miles with little trouble |

| I think John is correct about the CTX700 motor. I read that the CTX motor was designed for torque and fuel mileage and is basically 1/2 of the 4-cylinder they put in the Honda Fit, hence the non-moto valve adjustments. |

Edgett, You are correct about the CTX700 being 1/2 of a Honda Fit engine. Mine has great low end torque and is a low rpm bike. I also average about 65 mpg and I will go 70-75 mph on the highway and the speedo is dead on. But the SWing and CTX have about the same amount of power and speed but I think the CTX is a bit quicker. I also have the DCT as well with my bike. As for the $5,000 price tag for a 2013, I think that is a great price and the buyer shouldn't have any concerns whatsoever. IMO. |
