Well, I managed to pick up a screw through the tread on my VFR yesterday, found it this morning as I was doing the "kick the tyres and check the lights" pre ride checks I always do, rear tyre was soft, soon found the reason...
So I had to look wistfully at my Wing, sat there waiting for me to put the new head bearings in, no front legs on it, most of the tupperware off to give me access, still no news on the radiator, and instead got in my ancient but trusty Jaguar S Type V8...
Put enough fuel in to get me to work, I mean the bike uses 13 litres a day, I put 40 litres in the Jag...
And set off to work. I got to the Watford turn off, not too late considering it's Friday and the M25, being a biker I always leave a good gap between me and the car to my right to let the bikes through, or if I'm in any other lane, well I keep a look out for the filter kings.
And I saw a light bearing down on me, I didn't recognise the lamp pattern for my sins, I thought I knew what all bikes looked like from the front... It had sidelights only I think, might be why?
Anyway a dark Blue Silverwing shot past, fired off onto the roundabout at the bottom of the A41 turn off from the M25, banked over quite a way and just laughed at the roundabout's really crap surface, bam and shot off I know not where because I couldn't see where it went. Being on 4 wheels in my cage I don't think I could have kept up with it even with 4 litres of Jaguar's finest under the bonnet...
But I think that rider just removed any misgivings that I might still hold on what the bike can do.
I really hope it isn't going to rain all weekend, and I really hope the radiator turns up too. It would be nice to actually give it a decent test run.
If all the bits to turn up, I'll be putting the awning up and getting on with it if it's raining... But first I have to sort the Viffer out, the rear tyre is down to 3mm of tread, not worth repairing it.
