| So it now looks like my charging fault is due to a dead stator; is see there are a few options for non-OEM stators, are these worth pursuing or have there been horror stories? |

| Dunno about a non-OEM Stator. But the good news is that the stator (3112-MEF-003, ~$190.00USD) is the same for all year Silverwings from 2001 thru 2013.
No reason why you couldn’t have your stator rewound if you have credible shop to do the work.
But if you do find a non-OEM stator which fits please let us know.
We all benefit from shared information.

| Thanks Tim; I will investigate a local rewinder but my other options are unbranded stators on eBay; I'm wary of things from China but they do make high tech stuff like iPads pretty well. I'm trying to avoid over-capitalising on my project bike.
