| HI all. Looking for advice on Engine oil for my 2011 Swing A7abs.
4400miles. Reccomended is 10w30 4 stroke. ?. Also the oil filter that sits in the engine plug spring, where to get in UK.
Any help would be great. Thanks Fireman. |

| Hi Fireman. I use Halfords semi-synth motorcycle oil in my silverwing both for engine and the final drive, the bike is low tuned and understressed so it doesn't need anything more complex. Just follow Honda's service recommendations and you won't go far wrong, the service manual* comes in handy for torque settings etc to prevent that tight, tighter, very loose feeling beloved by spanner apes everywhere It's worth looking at Dave Silverman's website for drive belts, filters, etc. * a bit of digging on faceache will find a free download. |

| Aw jeez Fireman, do you really want to open up that can of worms oil discussion? If you go the Search window and enter Oil there you’ll get an avalanche of well meaning oily opinions. Bottom line is don’t use energy conserving oil. And, hey, don’t put in additives either. ‘Nuff said. |

| I'm going against the Visiting Curmudgeon Code here by saying I used Castrol Power1 4T 10w-30 for the last few years I had my Silver Wing. It was on the shelf in my local Halfords and it had all the spec listed in the Owners Handbook. For oil filters Halfords also stock the Champion COF104 which is their spec oil filter for the Silver Wing along with a lot of other Honda motorcycles. The same filter is recommended for my 2018 Forza 300. I've read posts from a Brit on here about his oil filter casing corroding. There's no such problems with the Champion as the casing is galvanised. Don't forget to use a six point metric socket to avoid stripping the corners of that crappy alloy tappet cover than some bell end at Honda decided was a good idea to use as a sump plug. |

| I used fully synthetic oil from 16000 mls. Now at 45000mls.For the drain plug try fifteen sixteenths AF. The oil filter in the drain plug section is a thimble like thing and just needs swilling in petrol or white spirit. . |

| This is a VERY subjective subject and usually gets most of us stirred up LOL. The SWing is NOT hard on oil like a big twin or dirt bike. Use YOUR preference in oil in the proper weight. If you need brand suggestions use the "search" function as Tim suggests. |

| Hell guys. I just wanted to say thanks to all who replied to my question regarding oil for my Swing.
It seems it is a huge area of difference. Thanks a lot any way.

| Only thing I add is read the bottle labeling compare specs and make your choice. The JASO T 903, SG or HIGHER, mine is a 05 so SG has long been exceeded.
It does make me wonder why they specify not using energy conserving oils. I knew why in the Goldwing's but there are no transmission gears nor wet clutches in our S'Wings |

I knew why in the Goldwing's but there are no transmission gears nor wet clutches in our S'Wings I always figured that it was a mistake in their manuals... Can't see any reason for that restriction. My Silver Wing has had both in it over the years with no problems. |
