| Good morning all, i really hope some one can help me here. i have a 2004 silver wing with 64000 miles on the clock. when i have receipts from previous owners to say the belt has been replaced but nothing about the rollers. i have noticed in the last week the bike has been kind of surging about 70mph, then yesterday the V-Belt light came on..... on the way home from work last night all of a sudden there was a load rattling noise coming from the variator case side of the engine... is this consistent with the rollers breaking up???? or something more sinister???? i will be taking a look at her tomorrow but if any one has any pointers i would be very grateful. thank you |

| Hi lesley,
Sounds like just getting into it will be the best thing to do. We can all guess at what's wrong but taking it apart is the best thing. Once you get it apart and have any questions as to appearance or tolerance of a part...please let us help.

As Dennis stated a visual inspection would be beneficial. Examine the a) variator ramps b) variator rollers excess wear or flat spots c) belt Clean the a) variator filter screen b) variator ramps c) variator rollers d) belt area housing The belt may need to be replace due either age or miles ... if you are not sure then it would be safer to replace. The rollers could be replaced with Dr Pulley Sliders.. |

| Hi DickO, I sure wish I had a good, big, smile like most the people in this world. I've got nice white, good looking teeth, but to me my smile just looks....well... not so good in pictures and I really do not take a good picture at all. When the photographers says "SMILE" I just grin at them. I sure wish I had a nice, big smile. That's a good picture of me. |

| cheers all ive taken the cover off yesterday and noticed the variator nut was undone last person obviously didnt torque down much to my expense.the ramp plate now has to be renewed as it has a crack going through it .i noticed that the rollers had squared off to and the sliders had some wear.so ive ordered new ramp plate sliders and standard 28g rollers from lings honda here in the uk which sell every part available for the swing.also ordered 24g rollers made by mallossi .i will be trying these when they arrive thought they would be a good compromise between the 21g and the standard 28g .ill keep you posted on the results |
