Interference engine? Empty
PostSubject: Interference engine?   Interference engine? I_icon_minitimeWed Dec 05, 2012 2:27 am

Does anyone know whether the Silverwing has an interference engine? An interference engine is one that if the cam(s) should stop while the engine is running the piston(s) can hit the valves. All versions of the Goldwing both fours and sixes are interference engines, lose a timing belt while the engine is running and major damage occurs. In a non-interference engine if the cam stops the engine stops with no additional damage.

I don't know if SilverWing interference engine or not......but no rubber timing belt----And nobody probably rides enough for timing chain to break. I would not worry. Rubber timing belts, like rubber band scooter drive are something to worry about and spend money on changing now and then. Near 300.000 miles on rubber band drive scooters---Wonder how much money I have wasted? Only one broke. Once timing belt change on Toyota V-6 at 60,000 miles was enough for me.
