I bought a 2006 SW in Feb. for 3 grand at Hayden Honda after years of riding a 80cc Aero
and burning up the piston at 21,000 miles. It was time to move on. My favorite scooter
was the 2004 49cc malaguti phantom I bought in 2005 and modified it to do
65 mph plus before some pos cut the cable and stole it from me at the pub.

So I finally got some extra cash from my pension plan and invested
in a new scoot. I already own a 85 Kawasaki 700 ltd that was my
favorite bike back in the day when KZ ruled the streets. My
buddy bought a 2009 in 2011 that I have ridden with on numerous occasions.

I can never keep up with his SW and I'm always trying to catch up from behind.
Got to love that twist-n-go feature. Reminds me of the slingshot effect my Vr4
gives me when I launch the twin turbos. I have to say after comparing my 320hp
car with the SW in quickness, they seem almost equal. So now I have another thrill
rocket from Japan.

Did a few quick runs around town and a trip up to lake country last week.
Can't wait till the weather gets nice.

Want to thank everyone with the drivers back rest mod.
greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the site. It sounds like you like speed/quickness and modifying your bikes. You came to the right place for that! So you like the way your stock Swing performs? Just wait until you make a few little mods and see what it can really do. The easiest/cheapest mod for quickness is changing from the stock "rollers" in the variator to lighter weight sliders. This will also smooth out the take off and lower your rpms at cruising speed. A lot of people have installed either 24 or 26 gram sliders. I live in the mountains and wanted a little extra boost for the hills, so I installed a set of 22g sliders. With them the bike is surprisingly quick. Other worthwhile, but more expensive mods include a free-flow exhaust, drilling the air box, changing to a K&N air filter, and installing HyperPro progressive springs on the front. The combination of these mods will give you quite a boost in acceleration, and the springs will vastly improve the bikes handling. I think you are really going to enjoy your new toy...

Thanks.
I don't like the front brake dive and read a fix here for it.
I think you're right about I'm going to love my new SW.
I performed some of the same mods on my malaguti.
My new Swing is the same color too and a awesome
replacement. I studied for years and compared all
my options before picking the right maxi-scooter.
I almost bought an Aprila Atlantic 500 then the guy decided
he didn't want to sell it after driving 150 miles to see it for $1200.
Another one of those too good to be true deals off craigslist.
I drove another 150 mile and bought the 2006 SW that same day
for the true deal from the dealer.
The Honda reliability factor was my main reason and the dealer
is a mile down the road for service.

welcome ozzman welcome to the best Silverwing forum on the web. I think luck was on your side when you went to buy that  Aprila. The Aprilia is a nice scooter but when you need parts you'll get parts for your Silverwing a lot faster then waiting for parts from Italy for the Aprilia.
If you plan on doing your own maintenance you'll find you can do anything you need or want with the service manual and help from this forum. I add the paragraph below for most new members because there's a lot of information in the links and may save you some work.
Here are some links(3 below in blue)that will help you learn a lot about your Silverwing. If you can't find what you need in the links below the search on this forum works good, and if you still need help just ask and someone will do what they can to answer your questions.
