| Thanks for the warm welcome to this forum I went to the local Honda dealer to buy a 300cc motorcycle and came home with a 2008 Swing. Paid $2,000.00 for it. 50 thousand miles but in very good condition.
I've read a lot of posts and can't help but join. Great people here. |

| Welcome Judy to the BEST SWing site on the net.
I also have an 08 SWing but had it converted over to a trike this past winter. I'm OLD so don't quote me if I'm wrong but I've had this for 5 seasons now and really like it.

| Welcome to the wonderful world of the Silverwing, from Nova Scotia, Judy.
I have read somewhere that scooters are not permitted to go up Mt Washington. Maybe you can disprove this. Great ski country you are in there. I have stopped at a few hills in NH along the way for a planned trip to Sunday River. Wildcat looked challenging, Attitash , not bad ... but people tell me I would really like Bretton Woods.
Enjoy your Silverwing .... we alll do! Mike |

| Wow, so many welcomes and wishing me well! Will be hard to leave... Thanks so much.
Have had some starting issues and other weird symptoms. Neighbor sent me to a grizzily of man, who really knows honda's. The crankshaft balancer is the culprit. Seen several honda shop mechanics to no avail. If ya need some help here in NH north country there's a big buy who will say to a lady, "don't worry, I can find and fix all your troubles." I'll take the grizzily over a clean tech. any day. Maybe there's some back woods Alabama in me.
Not sure what he'd say to a man ; ) |

| Mike from NS, missed your no scooter climbs up Mt Washington. Guess I'll have to sneak up at night. Also, Bretton Woods is a wonderful place to enjoy. |

| I'll keep posting here until I have all my info and a bike pic for others to see. My Givi shield arrived Saturday. Looking forward to getting my bike back from mechanic and install it. I like some of the ideas for touching up scratches. I'll be working on the bike to bring into a more pristine condition.
This is a wonderful forum! Thanks again for the warm welcomes...... |

| I got up on Helix, after explainding I have BSc Safety degree/worked with MC safety issues and MSF Instructor card-----the problem is brakes.....idiots on scooters let the drive disengage and ride brakes all the way down----maybe ending up with severe brake fade---scooters have plenty of engine braking as long as you keep drive engaged. |

Amen, if you wish to coast an occasional blip of the throttle works, engaging the drive system, engine braking works VERY well. |

| Thanks for the advice. Engine oil is good, new tires, and brakes 1 year old. Asked mechanic to check and change drive oil and inspect belt.
The info re: braking is fantastic. I did use the throttle the first time we be bucking like a bronco at 50 mph. Had to hold it above fifty for a smooth ride (kind of). Hit Jefferson, NH where 30 mph and a gas station/store. Hit engine cut off.
The next time I began to feel a bit of a jerk, I eased off and on the throttle and made it home. Shut it off and that was it. Never mind the rest. Drives home the info about engaging the engine as a brake. I know not to ride the brake, but clueless about keeping the drive engaged/twist throttle from time to time etc. I'll keep this in mind and work on it.
I'll let ya know everythig the mechanic found and did. Should hear from him in the next day or two.
Thanks again for input Greysilver, john Grinsel, and oldwingguy
