| I have now had my bike about a month, on the ride home after collecting the bike soon as I got to 80mph the vibration was very bad on the bars at 90mph the same so kept it around 70mph no probs. As I have a Europe trip on 5th July and bike now on 15700 miles I booked it in for the big service at a local guy who is a Honda specialist. Myself and friends have had bikes to him on several occasions he is very competent. As well as full service inc belt he rebalanced front wheel which was way out and also re-aligned the wheel which needed doing, great I thought that would cure the problem.Picked the bike up out onto motorway up to 80 90mph yes vibration just the same, straight back to him steering head bearing had all been checked at service, lots of head scratching and he suggested taking the mirrors off, I must admit I wondered if he had taken something. .So next morning I took both mirrors off out onto M6 motorway straight up to90mph and the vibration had almost completely gone. After advice on this excellent forum I am going to get the kappa/giviAF214 screen which I think should deflect the wind off the mirrors but cannot get hold of one in time for my trip. Not looking forward to trip now.John |

| I bought a new Silver Wing in 2010, and changed that useless Honda screen after about 3 months. I don't recall any vibration problems caused by the mirrors riding on the M6 or any other roads. Then again I'm not in the habit of flogging maxi scooters at 80 or 90 mph.
I then fitted an Airflow which was better, apart from tailoring the screen height, the winglets on either side of the lower section are pretty good at deflecting rain away from your gloves. I had a unique problem with my Airflow, I lost two Airflow top screens at motorway speeds, one on the A1(M) going North to Scotch Corner, the other a year or so later on the 'Cumberland Gap' section of the M6 heading towards Carlisle from Gretna.
The first incident was pretty scary, the screen came loose and struck the top of my Schuberth J1 open face, taking the air scoop on top on the helmet with it. Luckily the screen didn't hit of the vehicles behind me. I got home a couple of hours later, cold, my jacket and helmet splattered with bugs, and my ears ringing from the wind blast even thought I was wearing custom fit ear plugs.
Top section three behaved it’s self, and l later fitted a Wunderlich wind spoiler to the top, that's now on top of the larger electric height adjustable Givi screen on my Forza.
I hope you get your Kappa Airflow delivered and fitted before July 5th, if Kappa fitting instructions are anything like Givi's they're pretty basic. However there is a very good Pictorial on here about fitting an Airflow. The screen garnish has to be removed to remove the Honda screen can either be easy difficult.
Then there's the captured nuts hidden in the plastic after you've removed the old screen. The two strengthening brackets give you a clue where they are etc. |

| Yes I find it puzzling that with the mirrors removed vibration is almost eliminated. You were lucky to avoid injury when the top section came off. I have just ordered pair of used bar end weights off a ST1100 for £16 off eBay they are a lot heavier, I will get them by Monday worth a try. I will not be able to get a screen before middle of July I just hope the weights help with the problem. Thanks for the advice with the fitting of the Kappa. John |
